உலகில் இன்று பேசும் மொழிகளில் பழமைவாய்ந்த தமிழ் மொழி 15 வது இடத்தில் இருப்பதாக மனித உரிமைகளுக்கான தமிழ் நிலையம் தெரிவித்துள்ளது.

மேலும், உலகில் இன்று 6 ஆயிரத்து 800 மொழிகள் புழக்கத்தில் உள்ளன. அதில், 2 ஆயிரத்து 261 மொழிகள் எழுத்துருவை பெற்றுள்ளன. ஏனைய மொழிகள் பேச்சு வழக்கில் மாத்திரமே உள்ளன.

1996 ம் ஆண்டு மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்ட சர்வதேச மொழியுரிமை பிரகடனத்தின் படி ஒரு மொழியின் வரலாற்றுத்தன்மை, அதன் எல்லை, அங்கீகரிப்பு, போற்றவற்றை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்டு மொழிகள் தரப்படுத்தப்படுகின்றன. ஆசியாவில் மாத்திரம் 2 ஆயிரத்து 200 மொழிகள் பேசப்படுகின்றன. ஆபிரிக்காவில் 2 ஆயிரம் மொழிகளும், பசுபிக் பிராந்தியத்தில் ஆயிரத்து 300 மொழிகளும், ஐரோப்பாவில் 230 மொழிகளும் பேசப்படுகின்றன.

இந்தநிலையில், உலகில் வாழும் மொழிகள் என்ற அடிப்படையில் பார்க்கும்போது தமிழ் மொழி 15 வது இடத்தை பிடித்துள்ளது. மலேசியா, சிங்கப்பூர், தென்னாபிரிக்கா, மொரீஷியஸ், தென்னிந்தியா, இலங்கையின் வடக்கு, கிழக்கு பகுதி, மற்றும் 1862 ம் ஆண்டு பிரிட்டன் காலணித்துவத்தைக் கொண்ட இலங்கையின் மலைநாட்டுப்பகுதி என்பவற்றில் தமிழ் மொழி புழக்கத்தில் உள்ளது.

தமிழ் மொழிக்கு வரலாற்று சான்றுகள் உள்ளன. போர்த்துக்கல், நெதர்லாந்து ஐக்கிய இராச்சியம் போன்ற இடங்களில், இதற்கான சான்றுகள் உள்ளன. இவற்றை 1981 ஆம் ஆண்டு யாழ்ப்பாண நூலகத்தை எரித்ததை போன்று நாசமாக்கமுடியாது என மனித உரிமைகளுக்கான தமிழ் நிலையம் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளது.

நமது மொழி, பிஜி , சீசல் ,இறியூனியன்., மொறீசியஸ் , மலேசியா ,சிங்கப்பூர், மியான்மார் ,ரங்கூன் இந்தியா மற்றும் புலம்பெயர் நாடு முழுக்க.

Tamil is One of The oldest Languages in the world and THE ONLY surviving Classical Language thats spoken by people on a Day-to-day basis(Sanskrit/Latin and other classical languages have died off as currently-used languages and are only used for literary research purposes)

Tamil is spoken by about 80 Million people today; all over the world

Tamil has a Written tradition that spans more than 2500 Years and is dated back to at least 3500 BC (5500 Years Ago!!), to the Indus Valley civilization by linguists.

Asko Parpola , the famed linguist who dechiperd the Babylonian ancient script says that the language of the Indus valley civilization was Dravidian(Tamil was called Dravida by the Aryan people who arrived as pastorialists/nomads after the decline of the Indus Civilization)(the etymology is Tamil>Dramil>Dramila>Dravida.)

Tamil is The oldest and purest surviving language thats native to south Asia (Sanskrit is not native to India) It is also the Only surviving classical language thats still spoken and written by the people(north india speaks hindi, not sanskrit)

and i need not add that Its the Tamils who were the builders of the Indus valley civilization. When the Aryan people moved into India (they were not invaders but moved in as pastorialists/nomads over a period of time starting from around 1800 bc (long after the Indus valley culture had died, due to the shifting of the river indus)

Much of whats core to todays hinduism actually was taken from the native Dravidian people, i need not mention that shiva (siva in tamil ) derives his name from "sivappu"(red). he was a pre-aryan indus deity, the triple horned meditative indus figurines are ample evidence of this

Sanskrit is NOT older than Tamil, Sanskrit is only dated back to around 1800 Bc(the real formal sanskrit is dated to only 500 bc, with the advent of panini's book on grammer)

The Indus Valley writings predate this by almost 2000 years!!!

Hence; as Asko Parpola and the eminent linguists all over the world had said, Tamil is The oldest language that survives today.

Thamils are still able to speak and understand what was written 2000 years ago!.(thrukkural). can an average hindi speaker understand 1 word of sanskrit?lol hell no.Also Thamil religious literature are mostly in thamil , the works of nayanmar and the alwars are held in much high esteem and used all over the world wherever thamils live.its a very good example of how much Thamil had retained its originality whereas many other Dravidian languages had fallen by the wayside(taken on many foreign words ; generally sanskrit)

The Influence of Thamil is found on many south-east Asian languages as well. Even the Kings Of Thailand(even though its a Buddhist country) are recited words from the Thamil "Thiruvasakam" when they are coroneted(made king)

So it clear; beyond any shade of doubt that Tamil is THE Oldest language that still survives.
