ம். இறுதியாகக் கிடைத்த தகவலின்படி திரு: மகேஸ்வரன் அவர்கள் மரணித்து விட்டதாகவே செய்திகள் தெரிவிக்கின்றன.

முதலாவது தடவை அவர் உயிர் தப்பியிருந்தபோதும், 2ம் தரம் அவரால் முடியவில்லை. ஐதேக கட்சி போன்ற உயர் கட்சியில் அவர் இருந்தபோதும், இறுதி வரை அனைத்து சவால்களையும் எதிர்த்து தமிழ் மக்களுக்காக குரல் கொடுத்து வந்தார்.

தியாகராஜா மகேஸ்வரன் உட்பட இருவர் பலி! 6 பொதுமக்கள் படுகாயம்

முன்னாள் அமைச்சரும் ஜக்கிய தேசியக் கட்சியின் நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினருமாகிய தியாகராஜா மகேஸ்வரன் அரச கொலைக் கும்பலில் சுட்டுப் படுகொலை செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளார்.

இன்று செவ்வாய்க்கிழமை காலை 9.15 மணியளவில் கொழும்பு கொச்சிக்கடையில் உள்ள சிறீ பொன்னம்பலவானேஸ்வரர் ஆலயத்தில் புதுவருடப்பிறப்பையொட்டி வழிபாட்டில் ஈடுபட்டிருந்த போது இவர் மீது அரச கொலைக் கும்பலால் துப்பாக்கிச் சூடு நடத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இதன்போது மகேஸ்வரன் படுகாயமடைந்ததோடு அவரது மெய்பாதுகாவலர்கள் ஒருவர் சம்பவ இடத்தில் கொல்லப்பட்டுள்ளார். அத்துடன் வழிபாட்டில் ஈடுபட்ட மேலும் 6 பொதுமக்கள் படுகாயமடைந்துள்ளனர்.

படுகாயமடைந்த நிலையில் மிகவும் ஆபத்தான நிலையில் கொழும்ப தேசிய மருத்துவமனையில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்ட தியாகராஜா மகேஸ்வரம் சிகிற்சைகள் பலனின்றி முற்பகல் 10.30 மணியளவில் மருத்துவமனையில் உயிரிழந்துள்ளார்.

Maheswaran MP assassinated in Colombo

Colombo district Tamil parliamentarian of the opposition United National Party, T. Maheswaran, was shot at Ponnambala Va'neasvarar temple at Kochchikkadai in Colombo Tuesday around 10:00 a.m., while he was paying homage at the shrine, and succumbed to his injuries at Colombo hospital. The shooting, which also claimed the live of his bodyguard, comes a few hours after the parliamentarian had said that he would reveal details on how abductions and killings in Jaffna are managed by the Sri Lankan establishment through the EPDP paramilitary from Colombo. Eleven days ago, the government of Sri Lanka had reduced the Ministerial Security Division guards provided to him from Eighteen to two.

Thiyagarajah Maheswaran

Mr. Thiyagarajah Maheswaran who was a former Hindu Affairs minister and an ex-MP for Jaffna had escaped an assassination attempt on the final day of the 2004 election campaign in Colombo.

Recently, on 21 December, a UNP candidate, Muthukumar Sivapalan, was shot and killed in Jaffna allegedly by the EPDP.

The paramilitary-cum-political party, EPDP, is led by Douglas Devananda, a cabinet minister in the present Sri Lanka government.

Maheswaran was highly critical about the paramilitary outfit in his latest interview and said he would reveal how the terror campaign in Jaffna was being managed from Colombo.

He had told Shakti TV's popular Minnal program that he would come up with in-depth details when the parliament meets on 08 January.

Another Tamil parliamentarian in Colombo, Mano Ganesan, the leader of the Western Province Peoples Front (WPPF) and the convener of the Civil Monitoring Committee, who security was also slashed by the GoSL, has recently announced he was leaving Sri Lanka as the lives of Tamil parliamentarians have been endangered by the reduction of security personnel while they were receiving death threats.

Two years ago, a senior Tamil politician and the Tamil National Alliance Member of Parliament, Joseph Pararajasingham, was shot and killed at St. Mary's co-cathedral church in Batticaloa city while attending Christmas prayers on the night of Christmas eve.

மிதவாத தலைவர்கள் என்ற பெயரில் தமிழர் தலையில் மிளகாய் அரைக்கப் பயன்படுத்தப்பட போகிறவர்கள் இவர்களே! மக்கள் இனி தொடர்ந்து வரப்போகும் நாடகங்களில் ஏமாந்து விடாது இருப்பது அவசியம். ஏனெனில் மக்கள் தங்கள் தேவைகளுக்கு இவர்களை அணுகும் பரிதாப நிலைக்கு தள்ளப்பட்டுள்ளனர்!

நேற்று முன்தினம் ஞாயிற்றுக் கிழமை மின்னல் நிகழ்ச்சியில் கலந்து கொண்ட மகேஸ்வரன் ரங்காவின் கேள்விகளுக்கு மிகவும் யோசித்துதான் பதில் அளித்தார். முன்பு போலன்றி சிறிது நடுக்கத்துடன் காணப்பட்டார்!

தமிழரின் தீராத துயரம் என்று தணிகின்றதோ அன்றுதான் அன்னாரின் ஆத்மா சாந்தி அடையும்!

UNP Parliamentarian Maheshwaran shot dead

With the arrival of the New Year Colombo district parliamentarian T. Maheshwaran was shot dead in front of the Colombo, Kotahena Shivam Kovil at about 10.00 am this (01) morning.

He died after he was brought to the Colombo General Hospital accident ward. Director of the accident ward Dr. Anil Jasinghe said that parliamentarian Maheshwaran did not survive despite an emergency surgery.

Another person who was with Maheshwaran at the time is also dead in the hospital while receiving treatment. 11 persons were injured in this shooting incident.

The Government had removed parliamentarian Maheshwaran's security two weeks earlier despite the fact that govt. intelligences had informed Maheshwaran of possible death threats. The Govt. has reduced T. Maheshwaran's security down to two personnel even though he was provided with 18 security personnel for the past 4 years.

Parliamentarian T. Maheshwaran spoke to "Lanka-E-News" yesterday stated that he would reveal important information and names concerning the daily murder incident in Jaffna at the upcoming parliament meeting on 8 th January.

EPDP killers assassinate six civilians a day in Jaffna where jungle law prevails

United National Party (UNP) MP T. Maheswaran says that a group of assassins brought from Colombo kills six civilians each day in Jaffna.

Making a statement to 'Lanka-e-News' on abductions, killings and the shortage of essential food items in Jaffna, MP Maheswaran says that the killers are sent from Colombo for one-month service term and they are stationed in EPDP camps guarded by Sri Lanka Army. Maheswaran says that the teams are changed time to time to hide their identity.

Describing his recent five-day visit to Jaffna, Maheswaran said that the people said to him with tears how they suffer under the armed gangs that abduct, kill and rob people. He said that people said to him that these killer teams ask for Rs. 5000 ransom and kill people if not paid. Most people do not stay at homes in the nights and spend the nights in safe places, he says.

When 'Lanka-e-News' enquired why people do not complain, MP Maheswaran said that they have no one to look into these matters and the complainers are killed too.

In some occasions, Tamil youths are arrested under false charges if they do not consent to the attempts to abuse them. He said that jungle law prevails in Jaffna.

The MP pointed out that essential food is not provided to Jaffna people at least on rations. He is to produce a complete report in this regard to the parliament on January 8. Several names of the killers are also to be revealed. He said that this report would be produced to the international community, especially to India.

MP Maheswaran further stated that he was provided 18 member security squad since seven and half years but recently, it was slashed to one ignoring security concerns. When 'Lanka-e-News' enquired why he was not given the two police personnel entitled to a MP, he said that although two were given they are on duty on turns.

He said that he had no problem about war with LTTE. But he says that the opponents are labeled LTTE to take revenge.

UNP Parliamentarian Shot & Killed Inside Temple

COLOMBO:

UNITED NATIONAL PARTY (UNP) Member of Parliament (MP) Mr. T.MAHESHWARAN was seriously injured and rushed to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Colombo National hospital after suspected Tamil Tiger pistol men struck him while he was doing prayers in the Sivam Kovil at Colombo KOTAHENA at about 10.00 a.m. today (Jan 01).

The Parliamentarian succumbed to injuries after a major surgery, according to hospital sources.

Nine more civilians, believed to be Hindu Prayers who have been hacked or with cut injuries were also admitted to the National Hospital, the same time.

Preliminary investigations says that suspected Tigers have committed the crime, creating pandemonium inside the temple, most probably with a view to shifting the attention away from the murder of the MP.

As this report was filed one more civilian injured in the incident died of his injuries.

புலிகளைப் பயங்கரவாதிகள் என்றும் அவர்கள் ஜனநாயகத்திற்கு வர வேண்டுமென கூக்குரலிடுகிறது உலகம். ஜனநாயகத்தை ஏற்று தமிழர்களிற்காக ஒலித்த குரல்களான மாமனிதர்கள் குமார் பொன்னம்பலம், சந்திரநேரு, விக்னேஸ்வரன், ஜோசப் பரராஜசிங்கம், ரவிராஜ் என்று அழித்த சிங்களம் இன்று மற்றொரு குரலையும் நசுக்கியிருக்கிறது. இது போன்று இன்னும் சிங்களம் தனது கொலைவெறியைத் தொடரத்தான் போகிறது. உலகமும் கண்ணை மூடிக்கொண்டுதான் இருக்கப்போகிறது.

Alleged Tamil gunman arrested on killing of UNP parliamentarian

An alleged Tamil gunman was arrested today morning(January 01) following the assassination of UNP Colombo district parliamentarian and his body guard, at the Kotahena Sivam Kovil, defence sources reveal.

The alleged gunman was wounded in return fire from a personal security officer of Mr. Maheswaran, Kotahena Police said. The suspect, identified as a resident at general area Gurunagar in Jaffna, is under close custody of Police and receiving treatment at the National hospital- Colombo, sources further added.

He died after he was brought to the Colombo General Hospital accident ward. Director of the accident ward Dr. Anil Jasinghe said that parliamentarian Maheshwaran did not survive despite an emergency surgery.

Another person who was with Maheshwaran at the time is also dead in the hospital while receiving treatment. 11 persons were injured in this shooting incident.

The Government had removed parliamentarian Maheshwaran's security two weeks earlier despite the fact that govt. intelligences had informed Maheshwaran of possible death threats. The Govt. has reduced T. Maheshwaran's security down to two personnel even though he was provided with 18 security personnel for the past 4 � years.

Parliamentarian T. Maheshwaran spoke to "Lanka-E-News" yesterday stated that he would reveal important information and names concerning the daily murder incident in Jaffna at the upcoming parliament meeting on 8 th January.

The alleged gunman was wounded in return fire from a personal security officer of Mr. Maheswaran, Kotahena Police said. The suspect, identified as a resident at general area Gurunagar in Jaffna, is under close custody of Police and receiving treatment at the National hospital- Colombo, sources further added.
