துணிவும், ஆளுமையும், கருணையும் மிக்க ஒரு ஊடகவியலாளரை உலகம் இழந்து நிற்கின்றது!!!

துணிச்சலான ஊடகவியாலாளர் மேரி கொல்வின் அவர்களின் மறைவு எமது இனத்துக்கும், ஊடகவியல் துறைக்கும் ஏற்பட்ட பேரிழப்பாகும்.

ஆழ்ந்த இரங்கல்கள். முள்ளிவாய்க்கால் இறுதி நாட்களில் புலித்தேவன் போன்றோர் மேரி கொல்வினுடன் உரையாடியிருந்தார்கள். நேரடி சாட்சியமாக இருந்த அம்மையாரது இழப்பு தமிழர்களுக்கு பாதிப்பானதுதான்.

அமெரிக்க செய்திகள் அவ இலங்கையிலும் காயப்பட்டவ என்று மட்டும் சொல்லி முடிக்கிறார்கள். லோங்க் ஐலண்ட்ல் இருக்கும் தாய் செய்தியை கிரகிக்க இயலாமல் காணப்படுகிறா. மகள் எப்போதுமே ஆபத்தை மதிக்க வில்லை என்றாலும் தான் இவற்றுக்கு என்றும் தயாரா இருக்கவில்லையென்று கவலைப்பட்டா.

POEM WRITTEN FOR MARIE COLVIN delivered to her family at her wake,,

Oh Marie Colvin, noble daughter of this Nation,

So many stayed out of conflict zones- less newsworthy,

Yet, you trekked the no-go zones in Sri Lanka;

“Journalist!” you shouted, the government grenade their response

Blinding your left eye, for speaking the truth of Tamil misery;

You refused to fake an eye, choosing to wear a black patch

Your devotion to Truth and true journalism, did not have a match

Transcending barriers you negotiated surrenders,

But in the killing fields of Sri Lanka, Tamil white flags splattered with blood;

Then the Arab Spring, too hard for you to resist, and off you went

To witness the pangs of humanity, and powers of insanity,

The "free world" media that ignored your Sri Lankan reports

Now paid accolades for your reports from Syrian locations;

Sri Lankan war criminals took out your eye,

Syrian despots snuffed out your life,

You witnessed last gasps of innocents,

Your courage immortalized the anonymous victims,

Oh Marie, bid farewell, but you won’t be forgotten.

Boycott Sri Lanka

I attended Marie Colvin"s funeral today to honor her dedication to exposing the atrocities against the Tamil people from their own government , the Sri Lankan government.

I came away today in awe of this brave lady Marie Colvin who faced evil of the worst kind... governments who kill their innocents . She never flinched from giving the victims a voice and a face. She died doing what she loved best. Bringing the truth of war against innocent victims.. we will miss her .. If this world had 10 more of Marie Colvins , the planet would be a better place.

Marie we will miss you.. Blessings on your journey home.

இலங்கை அரசின் போர்க்குற்றங்களுக்கு முக்கிய சாட்சியாக இருந்தவரும், சிரியாவில் செய்தி சேகரிப்பின் போது அரசபடைகளின் எறிகணைவீச்சில் பலியானவருமான ஊடகவியலாளர் மேரி கொல்வினின் இறுதி நிகழ்வு நேற்று அமெரிக்காவில் நடைபெற்றது. இந்த நிகழ்வில் புலம்பெயர் தமிழர்களும் கலந்து கொண்டு இறுதி வணக்கம் செலுத்தியுள்ளனர்.

பின்னர் சென்.டொமினிக்கன் றோமன் கத்தோலிக்க தேவாலயத்தில் இடம்பெற்ற பிரார்த்தனைகளை அடுத்து அவரது உடல் அடக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டது. மேரி கொல்வினின் இறுதி நிகழ்வில பங்கேற்ற புலம்பெயர் தமிழர்களில் ஒருவரான சீதாராம் சிவம், மேரி கொல்வின் தமிழர்கள் மீதான வன்முறைகளை பத்தாண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னர் உலகின் கவனத்துக்கு கொண்டு வந்தவர் என்றும் அவருக்கு இறுதி வணக்கத்தைச் செலுத்த வேண்டியது தமது கடமை என்றும் கூறியுள்ளார்.

மிகவும் நெருக்கடியான சூழலில் போர் வலயங்களுக்குச் சென்ற அவர், தமிழர்களின் நிலை பற்றிய உண்மைகளை உலகிற்குக் கூறியவர் என்றும் அவர் மேலும் தெரிவித்துள்ளதாக அனைத்துலக ஊடகங்கள் செய்தி வெளியிட்டுள்ளன. ஊடகவியலாளர் மேரி கொல்வினின் இறுதி நிகழ்வில் பெருந்திரளான ஊடகத்துறையினரும், பொதுமக்களும் பங்கேற்றனர்.
