யாழ்.அளவெட்டி மகாஜனா மண்டபத்தில் தமிழ்த் தேசியக் கூட்டமைப்பு ஏற்பாடு செய்திருந்த தேர்தல் பரப்புரைக் கூட்டத்திற்குச் சென்ற மக்கள் மீது இராணுவத்தினர் தாக்குதல் நடத்தியிருப்பதாக தெரியவந்துள்ளது.

இது குறித்து மேலும் தெரியவருவதாவது,

யாழ்.அளவெட்டி மகாஜனா மண்டபத்தில் இன்று மாலை 6.30மணியளவில் தேர்தல் பரப்புரைக்கான அழைப்பினை கூட்டமைப்பு விடுத்திருந்தது. இதன் அடிப்படையில் அங்கு சென்ற மக்கள் மீது இராணுவத்தினர் கண்மூடித்தனமாக தாக்குதல் நடத்தியிருக்கின்றனர். இதன் போது ஐந்திற்கும் மேற்பட்டோர் காயம் அடைந்திருப்பதாகத் தெரியவருகின்றது.

SL Army brutally attacks public meeting of politicians, journalists in Jaffna

In what is seen as retaliation for Channel 4 broadcast Tuesday, the genocidal SL Army occupying Jaffna brutally attacked TNA parliamentarians, journalists and public in Jaffna on Thursday, causing injuries to an unspecified number of people, according to initial reports. The blatant attack by SL Army in uniform took place when the TNA politicians held a meeting at A’laveddi in Jaffna, inaugurating their political campaign for the forthcoming civic elections. Tension prevailed as SL Army was deployed in the area and the public that came for the meeting sought refuge in the nearby houses. “British diplomats satisfied with Army’s role in Jaffna,” said a website of the occupying Army on Tuesday, after the visit of the Deputy High Commissioner of UK, announcing ‘reintegration’ of ex-LTTE combatants in detention through the occupying Army.

The Attack took place around 6:30 p.m., when Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarian Mr. E. Saravanabhavan was addressing the public meeting held at Chaiva Mahajana Chapai Hall at A’laveddi.

TNA parliamentarians Maavai Senadhiraja, Suresh Premachandran, A Vinayagamoorthy, S. Sridharan and MA Sumanthiran were also present on the occasion.

Around 15 SLA soldiers in uniform entered the hall and attacked the participants with rifle butts and batons.

Photographer of Uthayan, and staff reporter of Thinakkural were among the injured, while senior staff reporter of Uthayan narrowly escaped.

Unconfirmed reports said TNA parliamentarian Sridharan was beaten by the SL soldiers, but the TNA sources declined to confirm whether any of their parliamentarians were subjected to attack at the meeting.

The assault of the SL Army took place after verbal altercations between the Army and the politicians in the stage. When the SL army attacked the parliamentarians the bodyguards of the parliamentarians intervened. The bodyguards in turn were attacked, receiving injuries in the process.

The bodyguard of Suresh Premachandran, Mr. Ramesh, who was injured in an earlier attack allegedly by the SLA, was again injured on Thursday. Mr. Premachandran alleges that the SL Army while attacking the public meeting had a special eye on his bodyguard.

The injured bodyguards are admitted in hospitals.

Many of the injured are treated in the Thellipazhai hospital.

The crowd gathered for the meeting dispersed seeking refuge in the neighbouring houses.

A large number of troops were deployed in the area to search the houses. The occupying Army, using the registry it conducted on families in Jaffna, identified the outside public that found refuge in the neighbouring houses, and took them away.

Journalists at the site, fearing reprisals, requested not to contact them over mobile phone.

Meanwhile, the TNA parliamentarians rushed to the SL Police station in Thellippazhai to lodge a complaint on the episode. They were seen picketing the police station.

The SL Police on Wednesday harassed the Chaiva Mahajana Chapai for providing the hall for the meeting.

The Commander of the occupying Army in Jaffna, Maj. Gen. Mahinda Hathurusinghe denied any attack by his troops. But the TNA alleges that the SL commander carried out the attack after receiving ‘orders’ from the ‘higher ups’.

Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, the commander of the occupying SL Army in Jaffna had recently told Mr. Saravanapavan MP that he was not worried about TNA MP Suresh Premachandran's complaint at SL Parliament seeking inquiry over alleged threats by Hathurusinghe.

The SLA commander had claimed in an interview to a local media that Suresh Premachandran MP was attempting to provoke uprising among the people and had come with a veiled threat that the SLA was prepared to arrest Mr. Premachandran. Later, the assistant of Mr Premachandran, Mr. Ramesh, was attacked with sharp weapons at Achchuveli, allegedly by the SLA.

Commenting on the episode, Secretary of the North Ceylon Journalists Association, Mr. K. Ramesh said that the attack on journalists attending the public meeting shows the critical stage of the already fragile press freedom in the island.

Meanwhile, in the international front, there were veiled threats by Rajapaksa supporters that Eezham Tamils in the island would be affected by retaliation, in the event of any campaign for conducting an international investigation on war crimes in the island.

Earlier, Rajapaksa supporters in the diaspora and media reports from Colombo hinted that the imposition of Sinhala National Anthem in Jaffna was a result of the cancellation of Rajapaksa address in Oxford, due to diaspora protests.

Presidential sibling Basil Rajapaksa recently indicated in Jaffna in a threatening tone that it was useless for Tamils to have hopes on war crimes investigations.

The Channel 4 broadcast on Tuesday shook the international conscience, but Sri Lanka totally denied any war crimes committed by it. Another presidential sibling Gotabhaya Rajapaksa on Thursday said that the broadcast was fake and was made for LTTE money, reported Daily Mirror.

Genocidal Sri Lanka’s confidence comes from the double standard of the international establishments, the dualism in perception between public and defence institutions in certain countries and from the ‘friends’ of the Rajapaksa regime in certain quarters, Tamil political circles said. Some of them also recollected that attack on Tamils used to escalate after every visit of the Indian Troika.

A group of ethnic minority Tamil MPs in northern Sri Lanka say soldiers from the national army have forcibly broken up a political meeting they were holding.

They say the military's actions are creating fear among the local people.

However the local commander said there was no substance to their allegations.

The parliamentarians from the largest Tamil party, the Tamil National Alliance, told the BBC they were outnumbered by attackers wearing military uniform and armed with Kalashnikovs and clubs, as they held a political planning meeting in a village outside the city of Jaffna.

One, Mavai Senadiraja, said about 25 soldiers had rushed into the venue, telling them their gathering was not permitted, and had then started attacking them.

Mr Senadiraja said they didn't actually use their weapons, and no one was injured.

And he said that later they received an apology from a military officer after reporting the incident to the police.

Political meeting

But he believed the episode had been "planned" and he said local people would now be afraid to come to political meetings.

Other eyewitnesses said some people were beaten with batons.

The local army commander, Maj-Gen Mahinda Hathurusinghe, told the BBC they were trying to find out what had happened.

But he denied any attack had been planned and said the MPs were inflating what he called a small incident.

Tension

There have been several recent accounts of tensions between local people in northern Sri Lanka and the Sinhalese-dominated army, whose personnel come mainly from the south.

Last month a meeting of Tamil academics, discussing cultural issues, was reportedly disrupted by armed military personnel who accused them of trying to commemorate the Tamil Tigers - something the academics denied.

Reuters) - Sri Lanka's main ethnic minority Tamil party on Thursday said the military had attacked its campaign events in the former war zone in the north to create a climate of fear ahead of the first local government polls in 26 years.

Legislators of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA), which backed the now defeated Tamil Tiger rebels, said supporters were chased away at a meeting in the main town of Jaffna by the military at the start of the first election campaign for 52 local bodies in northern district.

The July 23 polls are the first local government elections in the former war zone in 26 years due to a three-decade war.

"Despite our security guards telling them that we are members of parliament, around 30 military personnel in their uniforms attacked with batons," E. Saravanabawan, a Jaffna district Tamil legislator told Reuters.

"This is designed to create a fear psychosis among the Tamils to prevent them from attending our election campaigns."

Saravanabawan said the TNA had lodged a complaint with police at Thellipalai. A police officer confirmed to Reuters that there had been an incident and they had received a complaint.

Two other TNA legislators and three people who were at the meeting confirmed the incident. But Military spokesman Ubhaya Madawela said he was not aware of such an incident.

"There is no point in holding elections if there is not a level playing field," said Keerthi Tennakoon, spokesman for Campaign for Free and Fair Election, a non-government organist ion which monitors polls in the island nation.

"This proves that there is no environment for people in the north to exercise their political rights freely. There is a semi-military administration in north. The government has a responsibility to allow to have a free and fair election with equal playing field."

Since the end of the war in May 2009, Sri Lankan government has said it has been doing its maximum to restore normalcy and the current military ruling will be replaced by civil administration in a gradual manner.

However, Northern TNA parliamentarians have complained of violence against minority Tamils, which along with mistreatment by successive ethnic majority Sinhalese governments since 1948 independence from the British colony led to a 25-year civil war.

The conflict that ended with the total defeat of the rebels, who fought for a separate state in the country's north and east, killed more than 100,000 people and Sri Lanka government is now under heavy pressure by the United Nations and Western nations to set up an independent probe into war crimes committed during the conflict.

தமிழ்த் தேசிய கூட்டமைப்பின் யாழ் மாவட்ட நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர்களான மாவை சேனாதிராஜா, சுமந்திரன், சரவணபவன் நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் சிறீதரன், மற்றும் விநாயகமூர்த்தி உள்ளிட்டோர் இந்தக் கூட்டத்தில் கலந்து கொண்டிருந்தனர். நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர்களின் உரை முடிவடையும் கட்டத்தில் நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினரான சரவணபவன் உரையாற்றிக் கொண்டிருந்தார். திடீரென 15க்கும் அதிகமாக படையினர் அங்கு சென்று குவிந்ததாகவும் அங்கு உரையை கேட்டுக் கொண்டிருந்த பொதுமக்கள் மீது தடாலடியாக கண்மூடித்தனமாக தாக்குதல் நடத்தத் தொடங்கியதாகவும் குளோபல் தமிழ்ச் செய்தியாளர் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

2க்கும் மேற்பட்ட பொதுமக்கள் காயமடைந்ததாக தகவல்கள் தெரிவிக்கப்படுகின்ற போதிலும் கடுமையான தாக்குதல் காரணமாக காயங்கள் மத்தியில் பொதுமக்கள் தப்பி ஓடி விட்டதனால் காயமடைந்தவர்கள் தொடர்பான சரியான தகவல்கள் வெளியாகவில்லை.

மேலும் சரவணபவன் உரையாற்றிக் கொண்டிருந்த வேளை மேடையிலேறிய படைச்சிப்பாய் ஒருவர் மைக்கினை அடித்து நொருக்கியதாக தெரிவிக்கப்படுகின்றது. ஒலிபெருக்கிக் கருவிகள் முற்றாக அடித்து நொருக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.

செய்தி சேகரிக்கச் சென்ற ஊடகவியலாளர் பலரும் அடி உதைக்குள் சிக்கியுள்ளனர். அவர்களும் தற்போது தப்பித்து தலைமறைவாகியிருக்கின்றனர். தம்முடன் தொலைபேசியில் தொடர்பு கொள்ள வேண்டாம் என அங்குள்ள ஊடகவிலாளர்கள் கோரி வருகின்றனர்.

படையினர் தேடுதல் நடத்திக் கொண்டிருப்பதாகவும் அருகிலுள்ள குடியிருப்புகளில் அடைக்கலம் புகுந்தவர்களை தேடித் தேடி தாக்குதல் நடத்திக் கொண்டிருப்பதமாகவும் குளோபல் தமிழ்ச் செய்தியாளர் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

பல இலட்சம் உழைக்கக்கூடிய பலவித வாய்ப்புகள் இருந்தும், நாட்டை விட்டு ஓடாமல் தாய்மண்ணை தளமாக கொண்டு செயற்படுவதால் தான், யாழ் மண்ணுக்கு அடிக்கடி சென்று வருவதாலும், இந்த கூத்தமைப்பினர் தனிப்பட்ட முறையில் என்ன செய்கிறார்கள் என்று நேரடியாக அறிந்ததாலும், தமிழரை அழிக்க உதவிய பிசாசுகளின் சொல்லைக் கேட்டு துணிந்து செயற்படும் ஒருசிலரைக் கழட்டிவிட்டதை அறிந்ததால் தான் இவ்வளவும் எழுத வேண்டியுள்ளது. சம்பந்தன், சுரேஷ், வித்தியாதரன் (கூட்டமைப்பில் தற்போது நெருக்கமாக இல்லாவிட்டாலும்) போன்ற சிலரின் சில உண்மைகளைக் கூறினால் மொத்தமாக நாறிவிடும். சில மட்டக்களப்பு மாவட்ட கூட்டமைப்பு அரசியல்வாதிகளுக்கு உள்ள தைரியத்தில் துளி கூட இவர்களிடம் இல்லை.

கூட்டமைப்பை கடுமையாக சாடுவதால், கடத்தல் மன்னன் டக்லஸ் கும்பலையோ, தமிழரை அழிக்க உதவிய பிசாசுகளின் தாசர்களான சித்தார்த்தன் - ஆனந்த சங்கரி கும்பலையோ, சிங்கள பயங்கரவாதிகளின் கைப்பொம்மைகளாக இருக்கும் ஏனைய தமிழ் அரசியல்வாதிகளையோ, ஊனைத்தனம் நிறைந்த குள்ளநரி ரங்காவையோ ஆதரிப்பதில்லை.

அதேநேரம் கூட்டமைப்பு ஆடிக்கொருக்கா அமாவாசைக்கு ஒருக்கா செய்யும் நல்ல விடயங்களை பாராட்டவும் தவறியதில்லை.

நீதிமன்று திறந்திருக்கும் போது ஏதாவது நடந்தால் மட்டுமே நீதி கேட்க முடியும் என்ற பாணியில் எழுதும் அறிவாளிகளுக்கும், கோழைகளின் கேள்விகளுக்கும் தனியாக பதிலளிக்க வேண்டியதில்லை.

இன்று பல அரபு நாடுகளில் அந்தந்த நாட்டு சர்வாதிகாரிகளை எதிர்த்து மக்கள் பலமான மக்கள் போராட்டங்களை முன்னெடுத்து வருகின்றனர். இதில் எகிப்திய, துனிசியா மக்கள் வென்றுள்ளனர். அதேவேளை சில போராட்டங்கள் முறியடிப்பட்டுள்ளது. லிபிய போராட்டத்திற்கு ஆயுத உதவிகளை மேற்குலகம் வழங்குகிறது. சவூதியில் போராட்டத்தை மேற்குலகம் விரும்பவில்லை.

கூட்டமைப்பும் இவ்வாறு உயிரிழப்பு இல்லாத வகையில் சில போராட்டங்களை தொடர்ச்சியாக முன்னெடுக்கவேண்டும். ஏனெனில் அப்பொழுதுதான் அங்கு அரச பயங்கரவாத ஆட்சி நடப்பது உலகத்திற்கு தெரியும்.

புலிகளின் ஆயுதப்போரட்டத்தை, மக்களுக்கான காவலர்களை அழித்தபின்னர் உலகம் எதிர்பார்த்த அரசியல் தீர்வு தமிழ் மக்களுக்கு கிடைக்காமலும்;

மக்களின் அடிப்படை மனித உரிமைகள் மீறப்படுகின்றன என்பதும்;

ஜனநாயக முறையில் போராட்டங்களில் ஈடுபட முடியாத நிலை உள்ளது என்பதும்;

உலகத்திற்கு சொல்லப்படல் வேண்டும்.

அதை சொல்லவேண்டியது மக்கள் பிரதிநிகள் கடமை
