400 கோடி ரூபாய்களை ஆண்டுதோறும் வானூர்தி நிறுவனங்கள் சேமிக்க உதவும் தொழினுட்பத்தைக் கண்டறிந்தவர், தென்மராட்சி இளைஞர். முனைவர் சிதம்பரநாதன் சபேசன். அன்னாரை உலகம் இன்று வியந்து பாராட்டுகிறது. 1984இல் பிறந்த இவர். 2003 12ஆம் ஆண்டுத் தேர்வுக்கு யாழ்ப்பாணம் இந்துக் கல்லூரியில் படித்தவர். அதற்குமுன்பு சாவகச்சேரி இந்துக் கல்லூரியில் படித்தவர்.

  

மொரட்டுவைப் பல்கலைக் கழகத்தில் பொறியியலாளராக முதலாண்டு படிக்கையிலேயே புலமைப் பரிசில் பெற்று பிரித்தானியா சென்றார். செபீல்டு பல்கலையில் மின்னணுப் பொறியியல் பட்டதாரியானார். 2007இல் பிரித்தானியாவின் மிகச் சிறந்த அறிவியல் மாணவர்கள் 18 பேரில் ஒருவராகிப் பதக்கம் பெற்றார்.

கேம்பிரிட்சுப் பல்கலையில் முதுநிலை அறிவியல் பட்டம் பின்னர் முனவர் பட்டம் பெற்றார்.

Dr Sithamparanathan Sabesan, bagged two awards for his ground breaking finding - the Real Time Location System, a low cost real time radio tagging system which could be 100% accurate and can locate passive RFID tags within a metre. According to University of Cambridge news this system could save around 400 Million Pounds for airlines.

கடந்த ஆண்டு தென்மராட்சியைச் சோந்த சிவநாதனை அதியுயர் தொழில்நுட்ப கண்டுபிடிப்பு ஒன்றிற்காக அமெரிக்க அதிபர் ஒபாமா அழைத்துப் பாராட்டினார். இந்த ஆண்டு அதேபோல சபேசனைப் பிரித்தானியா பாராட்டுகிறது.

Dr.Sabesan together with another researcher Dr. Crisp received the Royal Academy of Engineering ERA Foundation Entrepreneurship Award for this research finding. They will be awarded a personal cash prize of £10,000 and another £30,000 for further development of this idea.

Dr.Sabesan also received the UK ICT Pioneers Award for this invention at the UK ICT Pioneers Competition, which is an Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council initiative that recognises the work of exceptional PhD students and researchers in the information and communications technologies.

Dr Sabesan Sithamparanathan Research interests

 

Dr. Sithamparanathan carries out research on ‘Low-Cost Ubiquitous Passive RFID Real Time Location Sensing System.' The system will enable retailers, airlines and other businesses to inexpensively and effectively monitor an item’s locations in real time.

 

A major objective of the approach is to overcome the limited range for reliable detection passive tags, which could enable antennas to be placed with spacings of 20m – comparable with conventional wifi spacings. This project has seen engagement from airlines, for whom this system has the potential to save millions of pounds. Retail groups have been involved due to the utility of this technology in tagging items and for the advancement of self-service checkouts.

 

Current research focus on the remaining challenges such as high quality sensing (three-dimensional tag location and speed/velocity measurement) and low-cost ubiquitous solution (allowing remote interrogation without the need for arrays of fixed and wired antennas) in passive RFID leading to the development of a new generation of passive RFID intelligent sensing systems. This new RFID system can then be used in many future advanced applications such as intelligent traffic congestion management through real-time RFID-enabled vehicle tracking.

 

Biography

 

Sabesan Sithamparanathan was born in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, in 1984. Dr. Sithamparanathan moved to the UK in 2004 to study BEng (Hons) Electronic Engineering at Sheffield University, where he scored highest marks in his year and awarded the Sir William Siemens Medal for being the country's top 18 science and technology students. He was previously with the Cambridge University spin off company ARM, as a student IP Electronic Engineer. He moved to Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University in 2007 to study for his Masters degree (MPhil) in Electronic Engineering before beginning his PhD in 2008 on the subject of 'Passive RFID real time sensing system for intelligent infrastructure'. He received funding from the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust, Corpus Christi College Scholarship and EPSRC (TINA and Boeing) Studentship to pursue MPhil and PhD at Cambridge University.

 

He is currently a Research Fellow at Girton College in Cambridge University and a Fellow of the ERA Foundation. He has received a number of awards, has had his work published in various journals and currently has two patents pending for his work into RFID.  Dr. Sabesan has recently been selected as the winner of The UK EPSRC ICT Pioneers Connected World Award, as well as the The Royal Academy of Engineering ERA Foundation Entrepreneurs Award 2011.

 

He is a co-founder and director of PervasID, a spinout from Cambridge University.

வெளியில் இருந்து நோக்கத்தான் இது பெரிய விசயமாக தென்படுகிறது. உண்மையில் உள்ள தொழில்நுட்பங்களை ஒருங்கிணைத்து.. மலிவான கூடிய உணர்ந்திறன் மிக்க.. புதிய ஒரு முறையை கண்டறிந்திருக்கிறார். ஆனால் அதில் இன்னும் மேம்பாட்டுக்கு இடமுள்ளது.

மேலும்.. உலகளாவிய அளவில் இலத்திரனியல் துறை தான் விரைந்த முன்னேற்றங்களை காண வேண்டிய அழுத்தத்தில் உள்ள துறையும் கிராக்கி... போட்டி மிக்க துறையாகவும் உள்ளது.

 

இந்த ஆய்வு வெற்றிக்கு வாழ்த்துக்கள். இன்னும் வெல்லவும் வாழ்த்துக்கள். ஆனால்.. இதனால் எமது சமூகத்திற்கு என்ன இலாபம்..??????????????????????????????! எமது மூளை அறிவை வேறு யாரோ தங்களின் வருவாய்க்காகப் பாவிப்பதே நிகழ்கிறது. எமக்கு இதனால் இலாபம் என்று பெரிசா ஒன்றும் இல்லை.

  தென்மராட்சி மக்கள் என்றுமே புத்திசாலிகள்தான். தென்மராட்சிக்காரருக்கு தற்பெருமை, விளம்பரம் எதிலுமே ஈடுபாடில்லை. வலக்கை கொடுப்பதை இடக்கை அறியாமல் இருக்கவேண்டுமென்பததில் கூட கவனமாயிருப்பார்கள்.
