மேற்கு சிட்னியில் அமைந்திருக்கும் தமிழர் செறிந்து வாழும் பென்டில் ஹில்லில் ஈழத்துத் தமிழரான ஈசன் வேலுப்பிள்ளை அவர்கள் இன்று காலை இனம்தெரியாத ஒருவரினால் இதயப்பகுதியில் கத்தியால் குத்தப்பட்டு கொல்லப்பட்டுள்ளார்.

 

47 வயதான ஈசன் ரியல் எஸ்டேட் வியாபாரத்தில் ஈடுபட்டு வந்துள்ளதுடன், அண்மையில் தான் திருமணமாகியும் இருந்தார்.  தனது முதலாவது பிள்ளையை தம்பதியினர் இருவரும் எதிர்பார்த்திருந்தனர் என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

 

இன்று காலை 7:45 மணியளவில் வழமை போல தனது காரியாலயத்துக்கு வந்து வேலைக்கு ஆயத்தப்படுத்திக்கொண்டிருந்த ஈசன், குப்பைகளைக் கொட்டுவதற்காக அருகிலிருந்த குப்பைத்தொட்டிக்குச் சென்றுகொண்டிருக்கும்பொழுதே வெள்ளையினத்தவர் என்று சந்தேகிக்கப்படும் 30 வயதுடைய நபர் ஒருவரினால் இதயப்பகுதியில் கடுமையாகக் குத்தப்பட்டுள்ளார். காயப்பட்டு கீழே விழுந்து கிடந்த ஈசனைக் கண்ட அயலவர்கள் அவருக்கு செயற்கை சுவாசத்தைக் கொடுக்க முயன்றுள்ளனர். பின்னர் அம்புலன்ஸ் பிரிவு அழைக்கப்பட்டு சம்பவ இடத்திலேயே அவருக்கு முதலுதவி செய்ய முயற்சிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. பின்னர் அவர் வெஸ்ட்மீட் வைத்தியசாலைக்கு மேலதிக் சிகிச்சைக்காகக் கொண்டுசெல்லப்பட்டு அங்கே உயிரிழந்ததாகக்ச் சொல்லப்படுகிறது.

 

கொலைச் சந்தேக நபரை பொலீஸார் சிறு நேரத்திலேயே பிடித்துள்ளனர். அவர்மேல் விசாரணைகள் நடைபெற்று வருவதுடன், சந்தேக நபர் பொலீஸாருக்குத் தெரிந்தவர் என்றும் சொல்லப்படுகிறது.

 

ஈசன் ஈழத்தமிழரிடையே மிகவும் பரீச்சயமானவர் என்பதுடன், பலருக்கு உதவிகளையும் செய்துள்ளார். 

 

அவரின் அகால மரணத்தால் அவரது உறவினர்களும் நண்பர்களும் பெரிதும் அதிர்ச்சியடந்துள்ளனர்.

THE man arrested over the stabbing death of expectant western Sydney father father Vissa Esan is expected to be charged with murder.

The real estate agent, Vissa Esan, 48, died at Westmead Hospital after allegedly being stabbed in the chest outside the back of his Pendle Hill business, Aussie Unity Real Estate, in a lane way behind Pendle Way around 7.30am.

Police arrested a 30-year-old Toongabbie man on the northern side of Pendle Hill Station less than a kilometre away soon after the attack.

He was briefly taken to Cumberland Hospital for a mental health assessment this afternoon but was now back at Merrylands Police Station where he is expected to be charged with murder.

A police source said the man, who was well known to them, was arrested “covered in blood” but they had yet to find the alleged murder weapon.

Police set up five crime scenes after the man allegedly fled the scene of the stabbing and crossed the railway line before washing himself in front of shocked workers at a Hansen Heidelberg Cement Group site behind a service station on Wentworth Ave.

He was arrested around the corner on Hallmark St at the rear entrance to smash repair business Collision Centre.

Holroyd Inspector Adam Phillips said it appeared the pair did not know each other and the attack was unrelated to the real estate business.

“There is heaps of CCTV. It appears nothing more than a minor incident that has escalated way out of hand,” he said.

Acting Superintendent Ian Casha said an extensive search for the “sharp object” used in the murder was continuing.

“There is no information to suggest anyone else was involved. The offender is known to police,” he said.

“There is no information that robbery was the motive.

“It’s traumatic. It’s a small, tight knit community and for this to occur is an absolute tragedy for the family.”

The Esan family gathered at the home of one of his sisters, along with his father, to deal with the tragic news.

“They are very upset. They have still not come out of the shock,” one friend said.

Work colleagues sat grimly at the crime scene just metres from where Mr Esan was murdered and said the Tamil Sri Lankan, who migrated to Australia more than 20 years ago, was expecting his first child with his wife Shanika who he lives with in Kellyville.

One colleague John, said they were in shock.

“This is all very unexpected. He comes in early and goes to the Temple, apparently he was in early and no one was around to help him. He was left lying there with his wounds,” he said.

“We don’t think it has anything to do with our real estate operation we think it’s a druggie attack maybe.

“He was a really popular guy and community leader. He was very kind-hearted and helped all his fellow Tamil people. We all loved him, he was a great guy.

“He was the centre of this agency we don’t know how to move forward.”

John said Mr Esan helped new arrivals from Sri Lanka settle in.

“He was a lovely person and helped many people including myself,” he said.

“They had just bought a new house with big mortgage. He was well established here.”

A fruit shop worker said his friend performed CPR on the man before paramedics arrived.

“I spoke to him regularly. He’s a very nice man,” the worker said.

“He started work early and finished late.”

Police sealed off the street with more than a dozen Public Order Riot Squad officers combing the crime scene along with police rescue officers scouring the roofs.

Mr Esan’s Cousin Pushperany Canagasundaram said Mr Esan, who was born in Jafner, Sri Lanka, came from a large family and was one of eight children.

“My daughter told me he was killed,” she said.

“Yesterday he came to the temple. He was very kind. It’s very sad.”

Friend Srikumar Siva said the Tamil community was trying to make sense of the death.

“I am sweating and shaking. It’s shocking,” he said.

“It’s totally shocking.”
