Namanan Guhananthan (1994, 13A Maths) has passed away on Friday (18 May 2012) by drowning in Virginia beach, in Norfolk, U.S. He was a resident of Canada and was on an official trip to U.S.Namanan went to Chesapeake Bay for a swim on Friday Afternoon. The sea had been rough and he was pulled in suddenly. The rescuers dragged him out and did CPR and rushed the unconscious Namanan to the DePaul Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Namanan was born in Urelu Jaffna and left for Canada after his A/L, to continue his studies, and since then lived in Canada. He was an Engineering graduate from the Carleton University Canda. He was working for Dominion Voting Systems, and went to U.S. on an official trip where he met his untimely death.

Namanan has been a Tamil activist since his school days and dedicated a lot of time for Tamil events.

இரண்டிலுமே எம்மவர்கள் அசட்டையாகவே இருப்பத்து கவலையானது.

இளைய தலைமுறைக்கு என்றாலும் சட்டங்களுக்கும் எச்சரிக்கை சமிங்கைகளுக்கும் அடிபணிய கற்றுகொடுக்க வேண்டும்.

39 வயதுடைய இரமேஸ்  பாஸ்கரதாஸ்  வாரவிடுமுறையை நண்பர்களுடன் நீந்தச்சென்ற மரணமானார். நன்றாக நீந்த தெரிந்தவர் என்றும் ஆனால் உயிர்காக்கும் அங்கியை படத்திற்காக கழட்டிவிட்டு நின்ற சமயம் ஏரியில் விழுந்தார்.

1980ஆம் ஆண்டு கனடாவுக்கு வந்த இவர் ஒட்டாவா பல்கலைக்கழக பொறியியல் பட்டதாரி. இவர் திருமணமானவர்..

About 10 friends who gathered at a lake to celebrate a decade of cottaging are now mourning a death.

Ramesh Paskarathas went out with two friends in a canoe on Lake Benoir, on the southern edge of Algonquin Park, on Saturday evening.

His younger sister said he took off his life jacket to pose for a photo when the canoe flipped and he drowned. Paskarathas’s friends made it to shore.

Just a week earlier, the North York resident had celebrated his 39th birthday.

Paskarathas was a good swimmer and police said the water was calm, so his family and friends are struggling to piece together what happened.

“That’s the thing that amazes us still,” said his sister, who asked not to be named. “I cannot believe it. Everybody’s in denial.”

Paskarathas was a reliable friend, the kind of guy who never missed a birthday, said his sister.

“Why did the canoe have to flip over when he wasn’t wearing the jacket?” she said. “It was just a few minutes.”

A nurse on the shore tried to resuscitate Paskarathas before paramedics arrived, provincial police said. He was taken to a hospital in Bancroft and then transferred to Mount Sinai, where he died.

His sister said Paskarathas, who was usually careful and alert, had been playing soccer before the canoe trip.

“Maybe he was tired,” she said. “We don’t know.”

The Sri Lankan native immigrated to Canada in the late 1980s and finished an electrical engineering program at Carleton University. He worked in California for several years before landing a job in Toronto as a senior network consultant. In October 2009, he got married.

“He took care of his wife like a queen,” said his sister.

In his spare time Paskarathas took photography classes.

“He enjoyed every minute,” his sister said. “He used to say that life is too short to be wasted.”

கண்ணீரஞ்சலி.

நமணனுடன் 2009 வரை அடிக்கடி கதைத்துக்கொண்டிருந்தோம். எனது இல்லம் வந்து ஒரு நாள் தங்கிச்சென்றிருந்தார். அது அவருக்கும் எமக்கும் மறக்க முடியாத ஒரு மறக்க முடியாத நிகழ்வு. 2009 ன் பின்னர் அதிகம் யாருடனும் கதைக்கவில்லை.. எனது திருமண தகவலை கூட அவருக்கு தெரிவிக்க மறந்துவிட்டேன்.. நண்பர் ஒருவரின் மூலம் கேள்விப்பட்ட அவர் நண்பரின் மூலம் அன்பளிப்பினை எனக்கு அனுப்பியிருந்தார். அப்பொழுதுதான் நன்றி தெரிவிக்க கடைசியாக அவரிடம் நான் கதைத்தது.
